Mission

Pretoria Preparatory School provides quality education in a nurturing, multi-disciplinary environment.  Teachers and therapists aim to meet the children's educational, social and emotional needs, to encourage them to reach their full potential and where appropriate, return to mainstream schooling.

Vision

Pretoria Preparatory School strives to create a nurturing environment where children are empowered to persevere, progress and succeed in their development into well-balanced adults who are involved in all aspects of society.

School Day

Pretoria Preparatory School is an independent primary school offering specialist remedial education to children from Grade 0 to Grade 7.  Our school day starts at 07h30 and our academic day ends at 13h15 (Grades 0-2) and 13h45 (Grades 3-7).  We run a varied extramural programme from 14h00 - 15h00, Monday to Thursday.  On Friday all grades end school at 13h15.

Pretoria Preparatory School follows the CAPS Curriculum.  When a child is admitted to the school, a remedial programme (including speech therapy and occupational therapy as required) takes place during the school day.  The children receive a great deal of individual attention.  Our numbers per class are limited.

When required, school interventions are offered during our extramural hour.

Prior to being admitted to Pretoria Preparatory School, all children complete assessments to ensure our suitability to your child's needs.  Please follow the link for further information.

Extramurals

Pretoria Preparatory School runs their extramural programme from Monday to Thursday.  All extramural activities take place from 14h00 till 15h00.  While every effort is made to offer at least one activity for each grade on every afternoon, not all activites will be of interest to every child, on every day.  We ask that you please take your child's interests into consideration when selecting their activities for the week.
The expectation from the school is that your child attends at least one activity per term.
Any academic interventions offered should take precedence over extramural activities.

Integrated Day

Integrated Day activities are offered to the children from Grades 0-2.  These activites take place from 13h15 till 13h45, when the remainder of the school end their academic school day.  Any child in Grades 0-2 staying for an extramural must take part in the Intergrated Day activities.

All children are given time to eat lunch from 13:45 till the start of extramurals at 14h00.

Extramural Uniform

All children are required to wear the correct PPS sports clothing for their integrated day and extramural activities.
Blue PPS PT shirts and PPS soccer/hockey socks are available from the school shop.  Please see the extramural notice for more details on the required uniforms specific to each activity.
